Police Service of Northern Ireland
Police are examining the scene
A man is being treated for flesh wounds after an explosion in Londonderry.

The police said a device packed with nails exploded in the Rosemount area at 2300 BST on Saturday.

The man in his 20s heard a noise outside his house in Rosemount Gardens.

When he went out to investigate, a device packed with nails exploded.

The man was taken to hospital and later released.

Detectives said that although it was crude, the device could have caused very serious injury.

A number of items, including nails, were taken away for examination.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has said it is not treating the incident as a paramilitary-related one.
