Sub-station explodes in garden
The explosion at Hopton
The explosion was a frightening experience
A family have had a lucky escape after an electricity sub-station in their back garden exploded and burst into flames.

Lisa Hawes, of Hopton, near Lowestoft, on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, said it was a frightening experience for the family.

She said the explosion took place on Saturday morning.

Ms Hawes said: "I was very shocked. There was a great big bang and flames everywhere."

The substation provides power for their family home and business of boarding kennels and a cattery.

Engineers are investigating the cause of the blast.
