Call centre jobs boost
A call centre firm has announced it is creating 700 new jobs on Merseyside.

The company, Vertex, is increasing staff numbers at its centres in Knowsley and Speke.

The announcement on Wednesday heralds the second wave of new jobs to be created by the company.

Last month Vertex said 900 further jobs were being created at its two sites.

Contract basis

Most of the jobs involve working with retail service companies, involving answering customer queries in the run up to Christmas.

Vertex's clients include Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Powergen, as well as United Utilities, which owns the call centre company.

It is understood most of the jobs will be offered on a long-term contract basis.

Currently Vertex employs about 3,500 people across the North West.
