Youth dies in stolen car
A teenager has died and two others were seriously injured after the stolen car they were in crashed in Essex.

An Essex Police spokesman said the accident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The spokesman said a black Ford Fiesta seen by police at about 0445 BST in South Ockendon.

It sped off from the police car and crashed into a lamp post.

Critical condition

The three teenagers were taken to hospital in Kent where one was certified dead.

One of the others is said to be in a critical condition.

An Essex Police spokesman said at about 1600 BST on Saturday that officers had identified the driver and his two passengers, but their names would not be released until next of kin were informed.

He said the black Ford Fiesta they were in had been stolen from Chafford Hundred near Grays on Friday.
