A 51-year-old man has been charged with the disappearance and murder of a millionaire and his family.

William Horncy, from Bournemouth in Dorset, was arrested by officers from Scotland Yard's Specialist Crime Directorate on Tuesday.

He has been charged with murdering Amarjit Chohan, from Heston, west London, and four members of his family.

Police have already charged one man, Peter Rees, 38, from the Portsmouth area, with the murders and are awaiting the extradition of another suspect, Kenneth Regan, 54, from Belgium where he was arrested.

The body of Mr Chohan, 46, from Heston, west London, was discovered washed up near Bournemouth pier on 22 April.

Court appearance

His wife Nancy Chohan, 25, was also found in the sea off Dorset on 15 July.

Their two young sons, Devinder and Ravinder, and Mrs Chohan's 51-year-old mother, Charanjit Kaur, are still missing.

The family disappeared in mid-February and a police investigation began after they were alerted by relatives.

Mr Horncy, who is also charged with preventing Mr Chohan's lawful and decent burial, appeared at West London Magistrates' Court on Wednesday afternoon.

He is also charged with kidnapping Mr Chohan, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.
