Anger at 'yob' attacks

Cafe owner Alistair Hawkin is upset with vandals
Shop owners in a Lincolnshire town say vandals are causing thousands of pounds damage almost every weekend by smashing windows.

Traders in Grantham say windows are constantly being smashed by drinkers coming out of pubs after hours.

The traders are calling for the police to take action.

Cafe owner Alistair Hawkin says he is putting up posters to tell people about the problem.

Victorian windows

His café has been targeted twice by vandals.

"We lost our main window this week - which is worth about £1,500, but we also lost two Victorian curved glass windows about six months ago at a cost of £6,000."

Mr Hawkins says the vandalism is linked to the town's culture of drinking at the weekends.

Lincolnshire Police say they will look at the problem and allocate more staff to Grantham if necessary.
