Just the job for jail
Prison gate
The scheme plans to help cut re-offending by former prisoners
A job club has been set up at Jersey's prison to improve inmates' chances of getting work when they are released.

The pilot scheme is part of the prison rehabilitation programme at La Moye.

The job club is being run by 10 prison officers who have taken part in training courses organised by the careers department at Highlands College.

Prisoners will be given advice about how to complete a CV and prepare for interviews.

Inmates can also find out what training and education programmes exist, either in La Moye or by correspondence courses.

It is hoped that by improving prisoners chances of getting a job when they are released, they will be less likely to re-offend.
