Man arrested after A1 crashes

A man has been arrested after an incident which led to three cars coming off the A1 dual-carriageway near Hillsborough in County Down.

Three people were injured in the incidents, which took place on Friday night.

It is understood the man has been charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury, and is to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

A woman is seriously ill at the Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn.

Two other people sustained minor injuries.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to either incident to come forward.
