Boy set fire to teenager
Bradford Crown Court
The attack took place in January
A judge has ordered a 16-year-old boy to be detained for life for his part in setting fire to another teenager.

The 19-year-old victim was left permanently scarred after being doused in petrol and set alight.

Bradford Crown Court was told the victim, who has learning difficulties, suffered burns to his face, neck, hands and back as a result of a "wicked and evil act."

Judge Rodney Benson imposed a life sentence on the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and said that he should serve at least four years and four months before being considered for parole.

Two other youths involved in the attack in Halifax in January were sentenced at an earlier hearing.

The court heard how the gang had stabbed the victim in the leg with a screwdriver and singed his hair with a burning aerosol can before setting fire to him.

He spent two months in hospital and may still require further reconstructive surgery.

The attack happened after the four teenagers left a nightclub together.
