Death penalty in Dhaka murder case
A special court in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, has sentenced six people to death for their involvement in the rape and murder of the teenage daughter of a prominent businessman five years ago.

The court was told that Shazneen Tasnim Rahman was raped and killed in her residence in the wealthy Gulshan district of the city.

She was the youngest daughter of Latifur Rahman, the chairman of Transcom Group, with business interests in electronics, beverages and the media.

Mr Rahman filed a murder case against one of his domestic servants, and six people, all members of his staff, were charged with rape and murder following a police investigation.

The death of Shazneen Tasnim Rahman, who was still a schoolgirl when she was killed, caused a sensation in Bangladesh.
