Police have cracked down on football hooligans
|
Six Nottinghamshire football hooligans have been given life bans from football grounds by the police.
The force says they will be arrested if they are spotted at any matches, starting this weekend.
Nottinghamshire police said hooligans will be monitored home and away.
The move is part of a wider crackdown on football-related violence in the county.
Event spoiled
Inspector Greg Drosdowski felt it showed growing co-operation between police forces and football clubs in different parts of the country.
He said: "The PACT initiative was introduced to address football-related crime and disorder.
"Initially it was focused on Nottingham but the vision is to take it nationally throughout the country and to arrest the hooligan element among the supporters."
He added: "We have 18 in total. Six life bans, 10 for five years, one four-year ban and one three-month ban, between the three clubs.
"The main thing that has to be received by these groups is that they are not wanted and they should not travel.
"It is this group that are spoiling the whole spectacle and event for the normal, average supporter."
