Driver arrested after pensioner death
A Dutch lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after an elderly woman died in Birmingham.

It happened in the Kings Heath area at 1130 BST on Monday.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said they believed the pensioner was using a pelican crossing on the corner of High Street and Institute Road when she was in collision with a lorry.

The woman, from Acocks Green, in Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police said the lorry driver was released on bail pending further inquiries.
