Driver admits causing deaths
A drunk driver has admitted causing the death of a mother and her daughter in a car crash in County Down earlier this year.

George Scott Kyle, 40, of Lysander Park Newtownards, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving and one of causing grievous bodily harm at Downpatrick Court on Friday.

Heather Burnside and her seven-year-old daughter Katherine were killed in the incident which happened on the Comber Road in Newtownards, on 12 January this year.

Two of Mrs Burnside's other children were injured in the incident.

Kyle also admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs on the same date.

He was remanded on bail to be sentenced at a later date.
