EU rules raise airfares fear
Channel Island passengers will have to pay more for their airfares if the EU gets its way, the islands' biggest operator has warned.

FlyBe has joined other airline operators in criticising the latest ruling from Brussels.

General manager Ian Taylor said the measures were unworkable and the estimated loss to the industry would be one billion euros a year.

The EU measures are due to come into force in a year's time.

Air Travellers will be guaranteed generous compensation with payouts varying between £175 for short haul flights and £420 for long haul.

Passengers will also be entitled to full refunds and the guaranteed provision of meals, accommodation and transport under certain circumstances.
