UEA top-up fees protest
UEA protest
Students could face fees of £3,000 a year
Hundreds of students at the University of East Anglia protested on Friday against Government plans for university top-up fees.

The demonstration was in Norwich constituency of Education Secretary Charles Clarke.

A spokesman for the university's students' union, which organised the protest, said: "We were hoping for more than 1,000 people.

"We didn't quite get that.

"But there were still hundreds of people there and we hope we spelled out our message loud and clear to Mr Clarke and the Government."

The goverment is proposing putting up the fees to £3,000 a year.

The money would be repayable once students begin working.
