DVD haul worth £20,000
Thieves have stolen DVD players worth almost £20,000 from a lorry parked in Northamptonshire.

Police appealed for information after the theft at Harpole, near Northampton, which took place between 2330 BST on Thursday and 0730 BST on Friday.

A police spokeswoman said a Y-registered Scania lorry was broken into while it was parked in the car park of the Red Lion on the A45.

The offenders slashed the curtain sides of the lorry to gain entry and stole 183 boxed Bush DVD players, each worth about £100.

Distinctive boxes

The spokeswoman said the cardboard packaging was very distinctive with pictures of various sporting heroes on the front.

The DVD players were being delivered from Wales to Dunstable.

Witnesses to the theft or anyone who knows the whereabouts of the DVD players are asked to call the Western Area Police on 01327 300300.
