Police name drowned man

The man's body was found in the loch
A 20-year-old man who drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming in Loch Lomond has been named.

Strathclyde Police said the dead man was Brian McKenzie of Slatefield Street, Glasgow.

The incident happened on Thursday evening when Mr McKenzie was swimming in Loch Lomond at Balloch, at about 1845 BST.

The alarm was raised and police officers who were called to the scene called in an underwater search team.

The swimmer's body was found about three hours later.

A police spokesman said: "It appears that the man got into difficulty when in the water.

"Strathclyde Police Underwater Search Unit and Luss Rescue Boat attended and the body of the male was recovered."

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
