Widow in court on murder charge

Audrey Hingston: Remanded in custody
An 81-year-old woman from Plymouth accused of murdering her husband appeared at the city's crown court on Friday.

Audrey Hingston was charged with murdering 83-year-old Eric Hingston between August 27 and 30 at a hearing before Plymouth magistrates last week.

Mrs Hingston, from Underwood Road, Plympton, was remanded in custody pending the preliminary hearing at Plymouth Crown Court.

Judge William Taylor adjourned the case for a further preliminary hearing on 21 November.

A plea and directions hearing will take place on 19 December.

Mr Hingston, a retired butcher, died after suffering a single stab wound.
