Talks due on social housing
Jersey's housing president says his committee is ready to start work on homes on the site of the former Le Coie Hotel.

Deputy Terry Le Main spoke out after the Finance Committee said it was concerned the homes would not represent value for money for taxpayers.

The States purchased the site near Springfield stadium in St Helier for about £4m.

The Finance Committee is asking Housing for more information before work can start.

Mr Le Main said the two committees would meet next week to discuss funding.

He was keen for work to start on the one and two bedroom homes.

He said: "The only way to achieve all of this is to make sure that the money is spent wisely and that it goes to right people.

"We need proper dialogue between committees and this will further strengthen the bond between Housing and the Finance Committee."
