Centre handles waterfront queries
St Helier waterfront
The centre has had to make copies of historic island documents
People have been asking Jersey's Archive Centre for help in trying to find out who owns St Helier's foreshore.

The States is holding a debate on 16 September on whether to give a piece of land worth £10m to Les Pas Holdings to settle a row over its claim to ownership of the foreshore.

The centre says it has had to make copies of historic island documents to do with the Les Pas case because so many people are interested in it.

The Jersey Heritage Trust's head of archives and collections, Sue Groves, said: "We have had at least a few people coming in.

Awareness month

"We've had to prepare a set of copies of documents for interested parties if they need a short cut, just to show that there is this information.

"What we've got here is available for everybody."

The Archive Centre is trying to encourage more people through its doors as part of National Archive Awareness month.

It is open during office hours from Tuesday to Saturday and is encouraging more islanders to use its services to find out about Jersey's history.
