Boy dies after sea rescue
Jack Shelton
Jack Shelton died five days after being pulled from the sea
A seven-year-old boy who was swept out to sea as he played with his sister has died days after a man was killed trying to rescue him.

Jack Shelton, from Brimscombe, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, got into difficulties as he paddled at the water's edge at Burton Bradstock in Dorset last Thursday.

Michael Beatwell, 35, from Poulton-le-Fylde near Blackpool, Lancashire, jumped in to rescue him but he was also swept away and drowned.

Jack, whose mother and 11-year-old sister were saved from the rough seas by coastguards, died at Bristol Royal Hospital for Sick Children on Monday evening.

He was transferred to Bristol from Southampton General Hospital in a critical condition at the weekend.

The Shelton family had been enjoying a short break at a caravan site near the beach when the tragedy happened.
