Strike warning over cuts
Trade union representatives in Jersey say they cannot rule out strike action over plans to cut 600 public sector jobs.

Policy and Resources wants the jobs to go by natural wastage.

But Nick Corbe, regional officer of the TGWU union, said that would cause serious problems in the island's workplaces.

Mr Corbel said he supported the idea of efficiency savings, but wholesale job losses were not the best way forward.

He said: "They have pulled this number out of the air.

"They are being too free with their calculators and we are just numbers in their game."
