Plans to build a sports hall for use by children with learning difficulties look set to be rejected.
Council officials are recommending that an application by Higford Hall, near Shifnal, Shropshire be thrown out.
They have advised planners in Bridgnorth to reject the plans on the basis that the sports hall would be an eyesore.
Pupils at the school, which caters for children with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties, currently have to travel to use sports facilities elsewhere.
Plans for the hall include a drama and dance studio that would be shared with the local community.
But council officials say the building, which would be made of a mixture of bricks and plastic-covered sheeting, would spoil the surrounding countryside.
They are recommending that Bridgnorth planners refuse permission for the project when they meet later this month.
