Remember the days when the Tory leader in the assembly, Nick Bourne, could proudly boast that none of his team would be seeking a seat at Westminster?
No longer. David Davies, the Conservative AM for Monmouth, bids tonight to become the party's candidate for the next general election.
Mr Davies will hope to regain the seat from Labour's Huw Edwards, who ousted the Tory Roger Evans in 1997.
Mr Bourne himself seems to be unsure where he wants to sit.
Today's press release from the hyperactive Bourne fax machine dwells extensively on the Chancellor's Budget
- something the Conservative Party usually leaves to its MPs.
