Sea breezes kept some beaches a little cooler than 36C
A new temperature record has been set in Jersey after the island encountered its hottest day ever.

On Saturday, the Jersey Met Office recorded that the temperature in Maison St Louis reached 36C (96.8F).

The previous hottest day on the island was on 3 August, 1990, when a temperature of 35.4C (95.7F) was recorded.

Jersey Met said: "It's higher than many well-known hotspots, such as Majorca, Rome or Cairo."

Jersey Met said sea breezes on the west coast kept some beaches a little cooler, while the temperature at Jersey Airport was more than 34C (93.2F).
