Man charged over assault

A 56-year-old old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked in a back garden in Flintshire.

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and is expected to appear before Flintshire Magistrates on Monday.

Police were called to Maes y Meillion in Leeswood near Mold at about 2100 BST on Friday.

It is alleged that the woman was kicked in the head and body, and was taken unconscious to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

She was then transferred to Walton Hospital in Liverpool, which has a specialist head injuries unit.
