Pensioner found dead in the sea

Police have started an investigation after an elderly man was found dead in the sea off the Essex coast.

An Essex Police spokesman said on Saturday that the man was found floating close to the pier at Walton on the Naze, near Clacton.

The body was found at 0600 BST on Saturday.

The spokesman said the man, who has not been named, was 83-years-old and came from Frinton.

Essex Police said he had an injury to his face, which may have been caused by a fall.
