The ex-boyfriend of a woman stabbed to death as she tended her horse has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Stephen Griffiths, 40, was remanded in custody by Reading Magistrates on Saturday, accused of killing 35-year-old Rana Faruqui.

The body of business analyst Ms Faruqui, of Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire, was found on Saturday near stables at Jennings Farm, Burnham, near Slough.

Mr Griffiths, of no fixed abode, spoke only to confirm his name, age, date of birth and details of his address to the court.

Case adjourned

Mr Griffiths, who was arrested in Watlington in Oxfordshire on Thursday, was dressed in a black polo shirt with white piping and black trousers.

No bail application was made and reporting restrictions were not lifted.

Chairman of the Bench Mrs Pip Fay adjourned the case to be heard again on Thursday, 14 August at Reading Crown Court.

Ms Faruqui had worked for the High Wycombe-based Hyundai Car (UK) Limited for more than four years.
