Eight rescued from fire

Eight people have been rescued from a fire in a block of flats in Gloucester.

Neighbours rescued one person who is being treated in hospital following the fire on the Matson estate on Thursday morning.

It started in a stairwell of a building in Norbury Avenue, with firefighters arriving around 0200 BST.

Five engines attended and spent an hour at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and believe the fire may have been arson.
