Man 'still unconscious' after fire

A man is still unconscious in intensive care after a fire at a house in Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police say they are anxious to speak to anyone who witnessed the fire on Sunday night.

It broke out in the house on Jackson Street and completely destroyed a door, leaving the inside of the house smoke logged.

David William Walker, 37, was taken to the University Hospital in Hartlepool, suffering from severe smoke inhalation.

Police are investigating both the cause and circumstances of the fire.

They want to speak to anyone who was with him, or knows his movements, between 1700 BST and 0000 BST on Sunday.
