Steam dream goes up in smoke
Ian Howard
Mr Howard's workshop was ruined
A steam enthusiast has lost 30 years of work in a fire at his workshop in Derbyshire.

Ian Howard has devoted his life to restoring steam engines, including one of the country's last remaining steam powered carousels.

The fire totally destroyed his workshop at Kirk Ireton.

Mr Howard said it would take up to 10 years to re-build the ruined engines, including the rare 1882 carousel.

But Mr Howard vowed he would not give up, saying: "This is for life... this is what we do."
