Police have said a young brother and sister who had gone missing from their care homes have been found.

Neil Robertson, 12, and his 11-year-old sister Fiona had both disappeared from different homes in Worthing in the past week.

Sussex Police confirmed on Wednesday evening that the pair had been found safe and well in Hollingbury Park in Brighton.

Officers had made extensive searches for the pair, who they believed were probably together and sleeping rough in Brighton.

Chief Superintendant Graham Walter, of Sussex Police, had appealed to the public for help earlier on Wednesday.

He said although both children were "street-wise" and had run away in the past, they had never before disappeared for so long.

Concerns were growing because they were not thought to have any belongings and little or no money.

Neil had not been seen since he left his home in Goring on 17 September saying he was going to see a friend.

His sister, who had a distinctive pink plastercast on her left arm after breaking it in a fall, was reported missing on Sunday after she left her home in Worthing saying she was going to Brighton.
