Wind farm plans unveiled
Lamonby
Villagers fear the wind farm may destroy the look of the landscape
Plans have been unveiled for an eight-turbine wind farm at Lamonby, in Cumbria.

The £9 million scheme will provide enough energy to power every household in the village and neighbouring Penrith.

But people who live there say the development by United Utilities will destroy the landscape.

The application will go to Eden District Council in October.

If it gets the go-ahead, work could start in Spring 2005.

United Utilities project manager Bob Whiteley said he was aware of concerns.

He said he wanted to discuss them with local people before the plans were submitted.
