Appeal after fatal accident
Police are taking the unusual step of writing to residents in Northampton - appealing for witnesses of an alleged hit-and-run incident in which a man died.

It happened at about 1840 BST on Sunday 3 August in Lasham Court at the junction with Kingscroft Court in Northampton.

David Andrews, 56, a father of three and grandfather of one, was cycling to visit his daughter when he was involved in a collision with a white Rover saloon.

Two days later he died of his injuries.

This week officers will be delivering letters to residents in and around Lasham Court appealing for information.

They will also be speaking to anyone in the street and asking them if they saw the car, or its occupants.

A 16-year-old boy from Northampton and a 19-year-old man from Wellingborough were arrested following the incident and remain on police bail pending further inquiries.
