Alistair McGowan is the foremost impressionist in the UK.
As well as performing in his own BBC series "Alistair McGowan's Big Impression" he has appeared in numerous drama programmes including "Jonathan Creek" and "Murder Most Horrid". He has also appeared on the West End stage in "Art" and recently hosted the Richard and Judy show (in character!) with his comedy partner Ronnie Ancona.
Despite the growing competition for McGowan's status as the nation's favourite celebrity impressionist, McGowan sees himself continuing with his Big Impression show for Christmas specials. But that's not to say we won't be seeing McGowan, who was trained as an actor, playing very different roles in the future.
"I'd like to just play a character instead of doing an impression. A lot of TV drama I find a bit formulaic and insipid but I'd like to go on stage as I love the theatre," he says.
