Driver killed in tree collision
A 21-year-old man has been killed and his passenger seriously injured after a car collided with a tree.

The accident happened in the grounds of Burhill Golf Club, in Hersham, Surrey, at 2350 BST on Thursday.

The driver, a South African man who lived in the Hersham area, was travelling towards the golf club when he failed to negotiate a bend and collided with a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Surrey Police said.

His 24-year-old male passenger was taken to St Peter's Hospital, in Chertsey.

He was detained with injuries that were serious but not life threatening, a Surrey Police spokeswoman said on Friday.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Surrey Police.
