Jeweller defiant after assault
A jeweller from Ashby de la Zouch who was seriously injured in an attack earlier this week says he will not be put off by the criminals.

Ian Dubberley was left needing 18 stitches in his head after trying to restrain a man he believed had robbed his shop, Ashley jewellers, just days earlier.

The suspect first went into the shop on Saturday 2 August, with a woman, and stole two silver hip flasks, worth £500, from a display cabinet.

It is thought he returned three days later - on Tuesday 5 August, just before 1600 BST, when Mr Dubberley thought he recognised him, and confronted him.

A struggle ensued, and the shop owner was hit over the head with a display mirror and an ornament.

Mr Dubberley said they had moved the jewellers to Ashby from a Leicester city centre location because of concerns about security, but he says he will not let this incident deter him.

Meanwhile police have released CCTV footage of the offender, and are appealing for witnesses.
