Student murder trial collapses
Jong Ok-Shin
Ms Ok-shin was stabbed three times in the back
The trial of a man accused of murdering a Korean language student has collapsed after the jury failed to reach a majority verdict.

Jong Ok-Shin, 26, was found slumped on a pavement having been stabbed three times in the back as she walked home from a night out with friends in Bournemouth, Dorset, on 12 July 2002.

Omar Benguit, 31, of Winton, Bournemouth, denied murdering the language student, known as Oki to her friends, who later died at Poole General Hospital.

The jury at Winchester Crown Court retired to consider its verdict on Tuesday but after three days failed to reach a decision.

The judge has ordered a re-trial.
