"An act of royal clemency"
Out of the blue six Britons were released from a Saudi prison and flown back to the UK.

They'd been convicted following a televised confession of their involvement in a lethal bombing campaign in Saudi Arabia in 2000 and 2001. Their confessions were later retracted and campaigners accused the Saudis of a show trial aimed at covering up the fact that Muslim fundamentalists were really responsible for the bombs.

So what explains these releases and what does it say about Saudi's changing view of itself as a haven for Islamic terrorism?
