A Dutch holidaymaker is to be nominated for a bravery award after he saved the life of a farm worker trapped in a burning tractor.
The tourist went to help the elderly driver, whose foot was trapped in his cab, as he tried to escape the flames which engulfed the vehicle near Ellesmere, Shropshire, on Thursday.
The agricultural worker, who is in his mid-60s, was taken to a Liverpool hospital where he is being treated for burns.
A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said the Dutchman, a 59-year-old retired restaurateur who does not wish to be identified, is to be considered for one of the force's Courageous Citizen Awards.
She added: "We understand the tractor driver's clothes had caught fire and if it wasn't for the actions of this gentleman, he would almost certainly have died."
The tractor was being driven along the A528 at Mereside and it is thought a spark from its engine set fire to bales of straw.
