Sheep put down after horror attack
A sheep had its eyes gouged out in a brutal attack which left police officers horrified.

A farmer alerted the police after the animal was found in a field near to Wilton Lane, in Eston, Teesside.

It had also been severely beaten on the head and had to be put down.

Police are appealing to anyone with information.

Pc Ian Solomon of Cleveland Police said: "This is a disgusting attack on a defenceless animal resulting in appalling injuries and suffering.

"The animal has been destroyed. Someone must know the identity of the person responsible and I would urge them to contact the police."
