Family escape house fire
A family escaped from a fire at their house in Greater Manchester by jumping from a window.

The man, woman and three girls - all aged under 10 - were alerted to the fire by their dog barking at about 0500 BST on Friday.

They jumped from the first-floor window of their home, at Trawden Green in Offerton.

It is thought a candle had been left burning in a downstairs room.

There was no smoke alarm fitted in the house, and fire officers say they are lucky to be alive.

All five were taken to Stepping Hill Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, although their injuries are not thought to be serious.
