Supermarkets in Folkestone have agreed to restrict sales of eggs to children, in an attempt to stop them being thrown at houses and cars.
Four shops in the Kent town have agreed to a police request aimed at ending the trend.
They will only sells eggs to children if they are "obviously part of a shopping list".
Police said egg-throwing was tempting to children because eggs are cheap, easy to buy and easy to cause a nuisance with.
Kent Police said the crackdown had come in response to a spate off egg-throwing in east Folkestone in recent weeks.

We would also ask parents to help us by making sure their children know the dangers caused by throwing eggs

Participating shops will display a sign reading: "Due to a recent trend where youths have been caught throwing eggs at houses and cars this shop will no longer sell eggs to children or youths unless obviously part of a shopping list.
"This shop is working with local police to stop this trend, and we hope you will understand our reasons for this action."
The shops in Folkestone which have so far agreed to display the poster are Safeway in Cheriton Road, Sainsbury's at Park Farm, Costcutter in Fleming Way and Ralph's Store in Warren Road.
PC Sarah Beadle said: "Because eggs are relatively cheap, they can be easily purchased by youngsters and used to cause a nuisance - and in some cases, damage.
"We appreciate the co-operation of the local shops who are taking part in this clampdown and would also ask parents to help us by making sure their children know the dangers caused by throwing eggs and also that it is treated seriously by the police."
