A man has been arrested for attempted murder after a police woman was deliberately run over in Surrey.
The special constable, who is in her 30s, suffered leg injuries after being struck by a van in Wrecclesham on Thursday afternoon.
Another man was also arrested for assisting an offender in connection with the incident.
The police officer had stopped the white van on the A325 near the Outback pub in The Street because she suspected it was stolen.
Van recovered
As she approached the van, which had stopped behind her, the driver reversed it into another police car before moving forward and hitting the officer.
The woman was taken to Frimley Park Hospital but was later discharged.
Surrey Police said the van was then driven along the A235 and A31 to Tongham and Ash before heading towards Aldershot.
Eventually the vehicle returned back near the scene of the incident.
The van was finally recovered in Hayling Island in Hampshire and two men were arrested.
One of the men was arrested for attempted murder and the other for assisting an offender.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the crime to contact them.
