Bollywood ban call
Nine separatist organisations in India have called for a complete ban on the screening of Bollywood Hindi movies in north-east India.

They issued a joint statement saying that the commercial films lacked socio-cultural values, and that erotic song and dance sequences were a bad influence on younger generations.

The proposed Hindi movie ban received public criticism after it was recently enforced by the militants in the state of Manipur.

Since then the cinemas there have either been showing adult English movies or have closed down after suffering huge losses.

The nine organisations have also called for a boycott of India's independence day celebrations on Friday next week.
