Woman shaken by car attack
An elderly woman was left hurt and shaken after a gang of children threw a rock through the window of a car in Barnsley.

Beattie Taylor, 72, from Great Houghton, was showered with glass and received cuts to her head and ear in the incident.

The stone was thrown through the passenger window of her daughter's car as they drove along Doncaster Road in Stairfoot.

Her daughter Linda Morley, 52, who was driving, described the attack as horrendous and said Mrs Taylor was left extremely shocked.

Loud bang

She told BBC Radio Sheffield: "If it had hit her on the temple god only knows what would have happened."

Mrs Morley was driving her mother and her cousin away from the Stairfoot roundabout near the Aldi supermarket when the gang struck.

She heard a loud bang as the rock came through the window and then saw a group of boys aged between 12 and 14 running away from the scene.

South Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.
