Liberia
In Liberia Nigerian peacekeepers have been deployed onto the streets of Monrovia for the first time, and the country's politicians have holed up in the wreckage of their parliament building to discuss how to run the country when Charles Taylor steps down. But the man himself still failed to make a promised appearance.

The rebel leader has suggested that war crime charges could be dropped if it would encourage President Taylor to leave.

We discussed whether the interests of international justice are working against those of people in Liberia.

He said he would be back but it wasn't expected to be as a politician; Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that he intends to enter the race to be Governor of California.

Iraq
Plus the latest from Iraq on the car bomb that has wrecked the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad.

Newsnight can be seen on BBC Two at 2230 BST 2130 GMT, or in Real video, either live or on demand, by clicking on the latest programme button.
