A woman prisoner was seriously injured when a security van was involved in a crash on the A14.

The unnamed woman was being transported from Holloway Prison in London to Bury St Edmunds Magistrates Court when the van overturned.

The crash happened as the Securicor van was travelling on the eastbound carriageway at 1120 BST on Thursday.

The vehicle overturned and crossed the central reservation at Kentford, Suffolk.

The woman was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

Her injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.
