School helper assaulted girls
A man who indecently assaulted three girls while helping at a Merseyside after-school club has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Martin Brown, of Royston Street, Wavertree, was "dangerous to young girls", the judge at Liverpool Crown Court said on Thursday.

Brown, 25, was convicted of four indecent assaults involving the girls, aged six, 10 and 13.

Judge John Phipps also banned him from working with children for life, placed him on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and on license for three years after his sentence is finished.

The jury was told a 13-year-old girl who attended the club in June 2002 told her mother Brown touched her breast three times in four days.

Her mother informed the police and social services and two more girls were interviewed, who said Brown had touched them inappropriately.

Brown denied the allegations and was cleared of two further charges of indecent assault against the 13-year-old.

Judge Phipps told him: "You were in a position of trust and responsibility towards these girls and these convictions represent a gross breach of trust.

"You are a danger to young girls and I do not regard the licence period adequate to prevent further offences by you."
