Anti-nuclear pair charged
Matt Bury and Susan Brackenbury
The two anti-nuclear protesters have denied the charges
Two anti-nuclear protesters who broke into Devonport Dockyard have been charged with intent to cause criminal damage.

Matt Bury, 48, from Churchstanton near Taunton in Somerset, and Susan Brackenbury, 27, from Ayrshire in Scotland are now facing trial at crown court.

Plymouth magistrates heard Mr Bury and Miss Brackenbury were members of the Trident Ploughshares anti-nuclear protest group.

They allegedly used a rope and a ladder to scale the wall and gain access into the dockyard.

Jury trial

They were also found to be in possession of papers showing the internal layout of a submarine.

Mr Bury and Miss Brackenbury both denied the charges and elected for trial by jury.

They case was adjourned to Plymouth Crown Court on 11 November.

Both were granted bail on condition they do not go near the dockyard.
